"In a culture that is facing a joy crisis, Talasi's book is a must read! She shares with honesty her own experience of finding joy, after years of living without it. Her rich biblical insight engages readers to go with her on a journey of finding intentional joy. Life is like a mountain and joy is the only way to the other side."
"Capturing the heart of John Bunyan’s classic, Pilgrim’s Progress, Talasi offers the heartfelt wisdom gleaned from her own journey to those incapacitated and discouraged by a world rife with chaos and uncertainty. Joy Like a Mountain will inspire readers to courageously embrace life’s journey with a joy-filled hope. It is a must-read for this anxiety-ridden generation."
"In this book, Talasi exposes the lie that joy is based on circumstances and shows practical ways for choosing joy in the journey. It has given me the ability to peer into my own heart and see some of the areas where I have closed myself off from receiving grace and have forfeited joy. I will no longer allow perfection and fear to dictate the measure of joy I operate in on a daily basis."
What is the significance of the title, Joy Like a Mountain?
The whole book is based on the idea that joy is an essential component for a successful climb up the metaphorical mountain of life. Why joy? What makes it so essential, and what implications does this have on our daily lives?
The book talks about a “joy crisis” facing our world today. What is this joy crisis, and what does it have to do with us?
There is an obvious mountain motif woven throughout this book. What is that all about? Are you a mountaineer, or does a person have to be interested in mountain climbing to read this book?
The book opens with a very candid recounting of your personal mental health journey. Could you share a little bit about your backstory and how it has shaped your perspective on joy?
This book takes its readers on a definite journey. What was the journey toward writing this book like for you? How did you go from the extremes of mental illness to authoring a book about joy?
Let’s talk a bit about the allegorical pieces of the book. Did you know when you started writing that so much of the narrative would be shaped by this intricate allegorical account of the gospel story?
What is at stake here? Why did you write this book?
Aside from the book, which releases on September 27th, do you have any other resources that our listeners/viewers can glean from on their personal pursuits of biblical joy?
